Your Expertise Didn’t Retire When You Did.
If you spent time in solar — selling, installing, designing, project management, anything — you know things most people don’t. You know what a well-designed system looks like. You know what a rushed one looks like. You can tell the difference between a company that’s going to be around in ten years and one chasing this quarter’s numbers.
And if you’re like most people I’ve worked with over the years, you still get asked. Old customers. Neighbors. Friends who remember you were “the solar person.” That doesn’t stop when you change careers.
What the industry looks like right now
Candidly? There are a lot of undertrained reps out there making promises they can’t keep — pushing systems that don’t fit, glossing over financials that don’t work, using high-pressure tactics on homeowners who don’t know enough to push back. And there are a lot of homeowners who have no idea whether the person sitting across from them knows what they’re doing.
You can tell. Most people can’t.
Here’s the uncomfortable version: some of the people asking you questions right now are probably talking to someone who isn’t giving them a straight answer. You know that. And you’re not in a position to help them anymore.
Until now.
What I do and how I do it
I’m an independent solar consultant through Powur — a national platform built on a transparent cost-of-goods model, which means I see exactly what a system costs and I’m not incentivized to upsell anyone. I’ve been in this industry since 2008. Sungevity. SolarCity. Tesla. Then independent, because independent is the only way to work without a quota hanging over every conversation.
When someone comes to me, I look at their actual situation — roof, utility rate, plan, usage — and I tell them fast whether they’re a strong candidate or not. If they’re not, I say so and we’re done in five minutes. If they are, the savings are real and I can prove it on paper.
No pressure. No pitch. No inflated projections designed to close a deal.
What referring someone to me looks like
You get a question. You say: “I’m not doing solar anymore, but I know someone honest who is. Let me connect you — she’ll tell you straight whether it makes sense for your house or not.” That’s it. You don’t endorse the sale. You endorse the consultation.
Sign up as a Powur Ambassador — free, two minutes — and get a personal tracking link. Anyone who goes solar through your link or via a direct introduction earns you $1,000 after installation.
You’re not re-entering the industry. You’re just making sure the people who trust you end up with someone who deserves that trust.
