Tired of rising electricity bills? Residential solar energy solutions can help — and I’ve been in this industry since 2008 to prove it. I’m Jamie Eldrett, a Powur Independent Energy Consultant based in Grants Pass, Oregon. I’m not a call center. I’m not a national chain. I’m a neighbor who knows solar inside and out, and I’ll help you figure out if a home solar system actually makes sense for your home.
Solar Panel Installation in Grants Pass — With Someone Who Actually Lives Here
There’s a real difference between someone who knows solar and someone who knows solar in your area. Net metering policies, utility company rules, and local permitting requirements vary a lot — and getting them wrong can cost you. I work with homeowners across Southern Oregon and Josephine County, which means I know exactly how to navigate Pacific Power’s interconnection process and maximize your photovoltaic (PV) system’s performance under local conditions.
I was among the first people to remotely design and sell solar systems nationwide (at Sungevity, then SolarCity, then Tesla). My husband helped create the first distributed nationwide solar installer network. Between us, we’ve enabled over a megawatt each of installed solar energy and participated in many “firsts” of the industry. Now I’m an independent solar consultant through Powur — the platform that finally got it right.
Why Work With a Powur Solar Consultant Instead of a Big Installation Company?
The big national installers have quotas. I don’t. When you work with me, I manage your project from the first utility bill analysis all the way through installation and Permission to Operate (PTO) — and I’m reachable by name, not by ticket number.
Through the Powur platform, I’m able to offer:
- Tier-1 solar equipment — including Enphase microinverters and Tesla Powerwall battery storage
- $0-down solar financing with transparent pricing and no hidden fees
- Federal solar incentives — including the 2026 solar tax credits, which are generous right now but won’t be forever
- A 30-year structural and labor warranty — genuinely the strongest coverage in the industry
- Hands-on project management so you’re never left wondering what’s happening next
- Access to backup battery / battery storage options for outage protection
What a Home Solar System Can Do for You
Utility rates have gone up every year for the past decade — and there’s no sign of that stopping. A rooftop solar array won’t just make you feel good about your carbon footprint. It puts you back in control of what you pay every month.
- Lower electricity bills / utility bills by locking in low energy costs now, before rates climb again
- Increase your home’s value — solar homes consistently sell faster and at higher prices
- Energy independence — own your energy, protect yourself from grid instability and price spikes
- Renewable energy generated on your own roof, with minimal maintenance
- Long-term budget stability — a fixed solar payment you can plan around
When Solar Makes Sense (And When It Doesn’t)
Good candidates for solar power for your home
- High or rising electricity rates
- Large, unobstructed roof space — good candidates for a rooftop solar array
- Good net metering programs in your area
- Homeowners planning to stay long-term
- Anyone wanting energy independence and budget predictability
When to wait or skip it
- Very low local utility rates
- Heavily shaded rooflines
- Old roofs needing replacement first
I’ll walk you through the numbers honestly. If solar doesn’t make sense for your situation, I’ll tell you that too.
Common Misconceptions
“Solar is free.” No — but it can save you money. “$0-down solar financing” means no upfront cost, not no payment. The question is whether your solar payment is less than your current utility bill. Usually, it is.
“Solar doesn’t work in cloudy areas.” False. Solar panels produce energy from daylight, not just direct sun. Southern Oregon is an excellent solar market.
“You’ll have power during an outage.” Only with battery storage. A standard grid-tied system shuts off during outages for safety. Backup battery options like the Tesla Powerwall are available — worth it for some households, not all.
“Owning is always better than leasing.” The equipment is identical either way. Ownership captures the full federal solar incentives. Leasing or a PPA often means lower monthly payments. I’ll help you run the numbers on both.
Solar and Real Estate — A Rare Combination
As a licensed Oregon Realtor, I’m one of very few people who can give you complete advice on solar’s effect on home value, what to look for when buying a home with an existing system, how leased systems affect a sale, and how to position a solar home for top dollar. Most agents have no idea. I’ve spent years filling that gap — and it helps my clients on both sides of a transaction.
Get a Free Solar Savings Estimate — No Pressure, No Sales Tactics
All it takes is your most recent utility bill. From there, I’ll put together a custom solar energy design and a real savings estimate for your specific home. No obligation, no aggressive follow-up — just useful information so you can make a confident decision.
